Lamps and Lightbulbs

Check the cap (the base that goes into the fitting) – for example E27, B22, E14 or GU10 – plus the shape and wattage. Our bulb fittings guide explains each one. Still unsure? Email a photo of your old lamp or its label to lamps@balcan.co.uk and we’ll match it.

Warm white (2700–3000K) gives a cosy light for living spaces, cool white (4000K) suits kitchens, bathrooms and workspaces, and daylight (5000–6500K) is best for task and commercial areas. See our colour temperature guide.

Only bulbs marked as dimmable will work with a dimmer – use the Dimmable filter to find them. Older dimmers designed for halogen may need replacing with an LED-compatible (trailing edge) dimmer to avoid flicker or buzzing.
